I love bags with a kiss-lock closure. I have been considering JOJO bag from Jemma for at least a year. Finally for this year's gift to myself, I decided to purchase it. It is a beautiful bag, to me - it's perfect size. Smooth, good quality leather.
A couple of things as to why I took off one star:
1) price... it is so out of reach for so many at $395. I have owned Coach or Dooney bags before, I personally think that this price point is set too high.
2) the crossbody strap - the hooks placement feels awkward. I would recommend the hooks by the handle rather than on the sides.
3) I never know which side is which. Yes there is "JEMMA" embossed on one side, but it's really small and really low. So, I would suggest a little round "tongue" (attached to the frame on the opposite side of the handle) which you can use also when opening the kiss-lock.
4) white lining... I understand the reasons behind it but it is so impractical. I am petrified it getting dirty. Maybe beige would be better - still light enough but not white.
Overall, I am happy with JOJO. As I said I've been wanting it for so long, very happy to finally have it.
I bought the larger size bc I’ve loved the regular size but after a few years it is falling apart in places (especially the laptop area and handles). I got a bigger computer and it just barely didn’t fit in the other one so I got the larger size. The bag is just too big- I carried it for a week and it’s just uncomfortably large. I will keep it in a closet and maybe use it. I didn’t like how on the regular size, one of the rounded side zip compartments was easy to store my tape measure- on the large one, both sides connect underneath and it doesn’t stay in place. I do think it’s a good bag just beware the larger size is just so massive for day to day. I went back to using my regular size and looking for a different every day bag that fits my 16” laptop but maybe isn’t this large.
I absolutely love this bag; the design is so thoughtful and for this Philly Girl that is also a Rowing Coach it gives me the ability to be fashionable while also being functional. I'm usually running from the river to meetings and back again, so I can carry my phone, my notes and even tools when I forget to empty my pockets (LoL).
The EMMA Traveler 39 is absolutely beautiful! I love the sleek design and the high-quality craftsmanship—it’s truly a well-made bag. The suitcase strap on the back is a fantastic feature for travel and makes it so convenient to use on the go.
The only issue I’ve encountered is with the front clasp. It’s a bit tricky to close and takes some time to get it aligned just right. I think it would help if the knob that fits into the circle were slightly longer to make it easier to secure.
Overall, it’s a gorgeous and functional bag, and I’m thrilled with the purchase despite the clasp issue. Thank you for creating such a stylish travel accessory!
Received this for Christmas from my husband and it is a stunner! I feel chic no matter my outfit when I have her with me.
Purchased the EMMA Traveler 39 in Croc Black for my significant other. She was looking for a professional, yet, stylish briefcase for work. Absolutely loves it!. The quality and look matched up to exactly what she was looking for. Great customer service as well. 10/10 would recommend. FYI: This does in fact fit a 16" laptop.
My second Jemma bag and I cannot wait to her the 3rd size
I always get compliments and it’s such a beautiful, functional bag. 12/10
I got this bag for work instead of carrying a backpack, and I have to say it elevates every outfit I wear. The quality is amazing and I get compliments on it all the time. Highly recommend!!
I really like this bag. It’s a great size for my kindle, water bottle, and a few other items that I need when I’m traveling. The only bit I don’t like is the clasp. It doesn’t always easily catch so sometimes I need to flip the bag sideways to line it up.
Omg i love it! The color is fabulous, it feels amazing and of course I get so many compliments. It's my big girl nah.
This bag was everything they advertised and more. So classy and professional looking. It holds so much and it is organized. Now I only need one bag not a purse and a tote etc. you will love it. I bought the black croc.
I had been searching for a while for a for a work bag that could fit my MacBook Pro to replace my backpack. Out of all the options I saw, the Traveler 39 stood out with it's beautiful design rather than just a tote bag made out of leather.
This bag certainly is an eye catcher. Because I'm transitioning, I was worried about walking into work with it on display. But I've had several friends compliment or ask about it the moment I walk through the door, and I couldn't be happier!
I was worried about the quality of the leather, since very little detail is given on the website other than "Italian calf leather". But I can confirm it feels extremely sturdy and looks flawless. I'm no leather expert, but it also smells the same as my other quality leather products.
The only longevity concern I have is about the coating on the metal pieces. Rather than solid color, it's coated in a gold/copper tone. This coating seems somewhat thin, since I'm already seeing it scratch off on the feet.
This handbag is absolutely beautiful. Quality is excellent and the size is perfect. I LOVE IT!
This bag is my fav. It’s gorgeous, well made and has perfect organizational pockets and dividers. It has a soft flap for the laptop so I don’t even need to use a case. Awesome.
This bag is perfect. I get so many compliments and for the first time I am not digging in my bag to find things. It has been such a joy to own this bag.
Genuinely such a nice, beautiful bag. I am obsessed with the single strap handle and I love how intuitively designed it is. The leather just looks, feels, and smells expensive. 10/10 recommend as a beautiful staple for work/travel/etc
What a beautiful bag! The color is rich, the quality looks good. Will give full marks on utility. The laptop sleeve is padded and the bag is big to hold lots of stuff. It comes with a strap which is very practical. Can't wait to start using it for work and travel.
Omg it came in (yesterday) but got delivered today because of late mailing but ITS OK! Because I have it AHHH it’s super cute, it’s giving major girl boss vibes and I’m here for it. It was bigger than I expected but it fits. Might not use it for work since I don’t wanna break it in too quickly but will be using for date nights(or any time I go out but work lol). I formally introduced myself to my JEMMA as johana haha loving the “JJ” <<<333!!.
I have no notes for this bag. Spacious, extraordinarily well-designed, classic, sensible. Having just turned thirty, this gift to myself is the perfect inspiration for the direction I want to go in this new chapter of my life. Love this bag so much!
I am an engineer who travels frequently for work. I have always carried a backpack plus purse to work and stuffed the purse inside the backpack for travel. I recently decided I wanted to up my style game and purchased the EMMA Traveler 39. I was hoping it would allow me to consolidate to one bag for both work and travel. I have owned the bag for about two weeks now and just took my first work trip. I rarely write reviews, but wanted to take the time to answer some of the questions I had before purchasing.
I purchased the bag in black vanilla and love the way it looks. So elegant and classic. So far I have been using it without the shoulder strap and carrying it with the handle around my shoulder. This does mean you need two hands free to put the bag on; one to slide the bag over your other arm. The outer back pocket is great to slip in my phone and work badge. The construction of the bag and the materials are all high quality. The carrying handle rotates all the way forward and back but has enough friction that it will also stay up on its own.
My 15” laptop fits either in the protective interior sleeve or in one of the main compartments. Every day to work I carry the laptop, laptop charging cable/power brick, an assortment of other cables, wireless mouse, wallet, sunglasses, keys, badges, pens, airpods, lotion, small hairbrush, mints/gum, folding reusable shopping bag, feminine products, and I’m sure I’m leaving out a few things. There are enough interior pockets to keep everything organized though I do use a few of my own smaller pouches. I don’t have a need to carry a purse to work in addition to this bag, which is great. I can even fit a travel mug. (Empty because I’m not chancing a spill.) I have found it easiest when putting in larger items like a travel mug to undo the magnetic straps to allow the bag to fully open, add the item, then close the straps and close the bag. You need to be able to attach the magnetic straps at the top to be able to close the bag flap and you can’t carry the bag using the handle unless the clasp is all the way closed.
I was concerned if I would be able to carry all of my travel items because I need room for a 0.5L water bottle and over-the-ear headphones. I’m very happy to report that it works! I did need to switch my headphones in a soft bag rather than the hard-sided case. The other change I made was to replace the small clutch that comes with the bag for a slightly larger purse. The included clutch has no width; it is very thin so you can’t really fit a wallet/phone/sunglasses which for me does not make it practical as a bag I can detach and use as a purse. For travel I need to be able to do this and I found that a different clutch I already owned clips into the EMMA. The only difference is my clutch has about 0.25” of width so I can fit my essentials.
I also love that you can unzip the outer pocket and slide the bag over your luggage handle. For me, the open zipper on the bottom of the pocket caught the telescoping luggage handle the first few times and I had to shimmy the EMMA to get it to slide fully down. However, after a few tries the EMMA outer pocket relaxed a little and I can now take the EMMA on and off my luggage one handed. This does mean the bag pocket, which previously had been snug to the back of the bag now has a slight gap. When flying, I had turned the EMMA on its side to fit under the seat.
